Though It's Dying Hard in Texas... It's HOT

The frenzy to decide who is to blame for the obesity epidemic is at a fever pitch. I review a number of food newsletters for the food industry in the USA and Europe. The blame points from food elements such as transfats to marketing practices. By and large I doubt that consumers understand transfats nor are they aware of how strongly marketing practices influence their food choices. There is plenty of blame to go around. Each element in the brou-ha-ha has its effect.

The big idea for me is that there is no attention given to the real cause. Fungi are the driving force in our food choices. The most popular choices feed fungi, the unavoidable organism. Fungi fuel our urges for empty carbohydrates...THEIR favorite food. My personal experience and others who have talked to me is a shrinking of the craving for empty calories when the diet starves fungi.

Time and space are not available to cover the many facets of this picture. A single focus would be an effective response to this cacophony of blame... an antifungal diet. Starving fungi helps the immune system to build one's health.

I want to keep working on effective ways to help you channel your personal and family food practices into more healthful directions.

Some ideas are zooming around in my head.
* Mixes for trying new ingredients and for time stressed cooks
* More healthy, delicious snacks
* Desserts for a spark to the diet
* Flavorings to light up meat and vegetables
* Other ideas

Leave your comments below and let me know what you're interested in!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Beverly Ann

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lifechangeliving.blogspot.com/2006/09/summers-end-is-in-sight-though-its.html' title='Summer's End is in Sight... Certainly dietary changes would have a large part in improving health. Most listeners and readers are nodding solemnly in agreement. This website is dedicated to helping move good change along.

If you are pointing at others there are three fingers pointing at yourself. Let's move beyond nodding agreement and finger pointing to the first step for change. To adapt a common saying...big dietary changes begin with the first change.

This current consideration will be beverages. The hope is that changing beverages would be easier than uprooting the entire food picture for a serious start. Changing to healthy beverages would result in the elimination of a significant amount of sugar, benzene, yeast, mycotoxins, etc.

Just increasing water intake would be very beneficial for many of us for cleansing and diluting impurities and chemicals, stabilizing the acid/base balance, and helping the flow of nutrients. (1)

Suggested beverages are water, herb tea, ginger tea, Beverly's Pikcup (recipes), etc.
Drink until your urine is nearly clear and odorless.

(1) Quillin, P. The website has a new design. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Bev's Bits is here to bring you encouragement, news, and tips for healthy living. Please email me (info@lifechangeliving.com) with triumphs and concerns. I am not qualified to answer medical questions but I will do my best to answer what I know, discuss healthy living options with you, share what I do, and point you to good sources for products or information.

This section of the website will ebb and flow as your responses come in. There are wonderful shows on TV and radio that bring out intriguing health ideas. Most advice rests on good food preparation as a basis for following advice and news given. You and I can work together to make this important part of life possible.

News

In heating food safely - There is discussion from a number of reputable sources about the danger of dioxin in food. I have read information from Dr. Mercola, Johns Hopkins and others. It is too big a subject for me to make pronouncements, but the consensus from these sources is to heat your food in non-reactive containers (inert): heat-resistant glass, ceramic, and stainless steel. Use the container that suits the heat source.

Your voices are being heard. The food producers are scrambling to provide food without transfats, with more fiber, non-genetically modified ingredients, etc. The scientists have been warning them but the pocketbook rules.

CONTEST

Barb Long (www.longlifeunlimited.com) has an intriguing cream (Rapha Remedy). If you send me an email at springcontest@lifechangeliving.com, I will put your name in a drawing for a jar.
